Sheridan walked aimlessly down the street. Some days were better than others.... This wasn't one of them. She was hungary tired and haden't been able to find a good place to sleep in 2 nights... She wondered about her options for food. There was 1) steal 2) beg (not happening) 3) go with out. she sighed. some days it just didn't pay to get out of the nest.

Racetrack stood on a corner, taking a break from selling papers, he lit up his second cigar of the day, he didn't smoke when he sold, it was bad for business, but when he got the chance to blend in and set the papes down for a bit he'd take a smoke break, or finish up selling at Sheepshead, whichever happened first. He stood there watching the people pass by, Manhattan was a very overpopulated bourough. "Deah me.." he muttered, blowing a smoke ring, he spotted a girl wandering around, "What have we heah..." she got close enough for him to call out, "Hey you'se lost?" he called to her, he figured she was, with all the close-knit buildings he even got turned around once or twice.

Sheridan looked the guy who had called out to her up and down he didn't particularly look trust worthy but then again neither did she. Ah what the heck she thought maybe he at least knew where some food was. "I can't be lost." She answered" "I don't know where I am going."

"Well if ya don' know where ya goin' den dat is bein' lost," Race said, smirking, he noticed her looking at him weird, "Caro me, I ain' gunna rob ya 'a nothin'," he said, " If ya did know where you'se was going where would ya go?" he asked, she looked hungry, he looked up at Tibby's across the street, "I 'as fixin' to go grab some sort of food.." he suggested, able to tell she wasn't the type to admit that she was hungry or anything, but he could tell she was.

Sheridan hesitated for a moment and finally decided with the way she felt at the moment this time she needed to be honest. "I ain't got any money sos foods kinda out for me until I get a job." She winced as a hunger pain shot through her. She really did need food.

Race stared at what was left of his papers, he split them with her, "heah, we's gunna get ya money," he said, he motioned for her to follow him, heading into the crowd, he leaned in telling her, "Now...da trick is, exaggeratin' ya see dis headline?" he pointed out the one that said 'One Casualty in Carriage Wreck' he smiled at her, "Now..let's up dat death toll to about eh...six 'a seven, now watch," Race thrust the paper in the air, "EXTRA EXTRA! HALF A DOZEN KILLED IN TERRIBLE CARRIAGE MOIDAH!" he yelled, mass people decended on Race and Sheridan, wanting to buy the papers, "Thanks for ya contribution, yeah ya welcome," Race pocketed the money and looked at Sheridan to see how she was handling the buyers.

Sheridan having just figured out what was expected of her handed as many out as she could accepting money for them in recur. When the crowd had died down a bit she looked through for another good head line and came up with "Death toll rises after freak fire" form one that actually said "searchers find body of several cats after fire in old farm house."

Race grinned, selling the rest of his, standing there waiting for her to finished, "Ya doin' great kid!" he told her over the crowd. He re-lit the cigar from earlier and puffed on it, keeping an eye on Tibby's so it didn't get too crowded. He could see a couple of newsies through the window already seated in there eating.

Sheridan finished selling her last paper and grinning broadly turned to the guy who had taught her to sell them. "Thanks, never new selling papers could be so fun also didn't know you guys exaggerated so much."

"How else do you'se think we's sell 'em so well?" Race said, "Da scabs who write it change things up too." he grinned, then held his hand out, "Call me Race, Racetrack Higgins," he said, then looked at Tibby's again, "You tink you'se can afford food now?" he asked, "I know da best place."

Sheridan smiled back and reached out to shake his outstreached hand. "Sheridan Kennedy and I think I can certainly afford food now."

Race led her into Tibby's, maneuvering into one of the booths by the windows, saying hi to the newsies who were already there, he sat down in the booth with another guy, Jack Kelly, waving her over, "C'mheah." he said, "Heya Jacky Boy," "Heya Race," Jack said, he'd been there awhile, he always got his papers sold rather quickly, "No Sheepshead today?" "Nah, fah once," Race replied, "I met dis," he pointed to Sheridan, "Jack, dis is Sheridan, Sheridan dis is Jack Kelly, we calls him Cowboy," Jack smiled, "Nice ta meet ya," he said, "I hope Race ain' driven ya away yet," he joked. (Brooklyn (Kayla Q) is going to jump in with Kid Blink at some point, she'll be on about 10:00 later, she's watching her "shows" so Sheridan will get to meet a couple of the Manhattan boys .)

"Nice to meet ya Cowboy." Sheriden said studying the new comers face. He seemed friendly she thought. She already could tell that the one called Race was a lot like some of the street kids she used to play with. She smiled at the memory but reminded her self to not be to trusting. (can't wait for Brooklyn to pop in too been reading your 1980s newsie rp love the interaction between blink and race)

Blink walked in after finally getting all of his papers sold and plopped down beside Race, a stupid smirk on his face.

"Nice ta meet you too," Jack replied, he watched her, she was alot like the newcomers around here, a bit sceptical of the newsies, and unsure as to why they were friendly. But most of them knew what it was like to be 'lost' or runaways, or homeless, so they tried to be welcoming to anyone they saw and thought needed help. "So...Sheridan," he said, "Where did Race find ya?" he took a sip of his drink, watching her for any sign.
Race stared at Blink, "What you'se smirkin' at?" he joked, ordering a hot dog when the lady came up taking their orders.
