Lucky and David jumped. "What was that?!" she cried, clinging onto his arm.
"It sounded like a sneeze," David commented, confused.

Blink froze, but he couldn't fight as another sneeze exploded from him. He sniffled and moaned.

Lucky jumped again, this time screaming a little bit. "David, what IS it?!" she asked, clinging tighter to him.
"It might just be a hobo....I'll check." He patted her arm and inched forward towards the crates, where the sound had come from. He glanced behind the back ones and saw....."Blink?"
"Huh?" Lucky asked from behind him, pulling his jacket closer around her shoulders. "Blink?"
"Blink, is that you?" David asked, squinting to see better.

"Mmm." was all Blink could manage. He was still half-buried in snow and his arms and legs were weak from sitting in the same position for so long.

David reached out and pulled him up, sitting him on a crate. "Blink, what are you doing out here this time of night, and in this weather?"
Lucky felt a stab of pain shoot through her heart and she tightened the jacket around her even more, hiding her left hand. It would just be the cherry on top if he saw the ring.

Blink mumbled a "Dunno", coughed, and slumped against David.

"We gotta get him back to the lodging house," David said, hoisting one of Blink's arms over his shoulder. Lucky rushed over and put his other one across hers, draping David's jacket across his shoulders beforehand.

Blink was shaking uncontrollably, only half conscious. He knew what was going on around him, but his body wouldn't let him react. He sneezed again, then sniffled.

David and Lucky carried him to the lodging house, kicking the door open and then laying him across a couch in the lobby; they weren't strong enough to take him all the way upstairs.
"I'll go get Jack," David offered, running upstairs.
"Blink....Blink, are you okay?" Lucky asked, rubbing his arms to warm him up. She draped both her and David's jackets across him like blankets.

Blink tried to respond but all that came out was. "L-L-L-L-Lucky?" His lips quivered with the cold and the snow had soaked his clothes.

"That's right. Lucky." She smiled, brushing the hair out of his eyes with her hand to check his forehead. "Dear God...." she whispered; he was burning up. "How long had you been out there in the snow?" she asked him, wrapping the jackets even tighter around him.

"S-s-s-since this aftern-n-noon." he choked.

"This afternoon....you mean since after you left Tibby's?" she asked, shocked.

Blink nodded slowly, then winced as it felt like his brain rattled.

David came clambering down the stairs right then, followed by Jack. "We found him behind some crates in an alleyway," David told him.
"He's burning up," Lucky threw in, looking back over her shoulder at Jack.
